Winchesters Trailer Teases John and Mary’s Supernatural Romance

In less than two months, the family business returns to The CW. In October, viewers will once again venture into the world of rescuing people and hunting things down as the Supernatural prequel The Winchesters makes its serial debut. Ahead of the first episode, The CW shared a new trailer highlighting the debut of John Winchester (Drake Rodger) and Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly) relationship.

The new trailer promises viewers “an unearthly love story” as it features John and Mary’s less than ideal first meeting. It begins as John returns home from the fight, looking for a new purpose in his life. As he narrates, the trailer draws parallels to his time on the battlefield with the vicious monsters that await him. But luckily Mary, a skilled hunter, is there to save the day. As the trailer continues, it offers up some of the sarcastic banter that John and Mary will have as they and a few other hunters do what they do best. Viewers also get another brief glimpse of Jensen Ackles as Dean and a reminder of how men of letters will be an integral part of history.

Reported by Dean Winchester himself, The Winchesters tells the “epic and untold love story” of John and Mary’s first meeting, giving viewers greater insight into the trials and tribulations the duo went through to save the world and their love. The prequel picks up shortly after John Winchester returns from fighting in Vietnam. As he attempts to uncover the truth about his father’s mysterious past, he meets Mary, a hunter searching for her own answers. The following is a story that fans of Supernatural are already quite familiar, but this time with mom and dad. Rodger and Donnelly mark the third iterations of John and Mary’s SPN universe, following Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Samantha Smithand matt cohen and Amy Gumenick as Supernaturalthe current and young versions of, respectively.
