Syracuse Orange football opens as underdog against Louisville

The Syracuse Orange are one win away from bowl eligibility, which is a remarkable statement considering the team’s status last season. Unfortunately for Syracuse, the road to the sixth win of the season is tough, and it begins on the Kentucky road against the Louisville Cardinals.

More bad news for Syracuse, the Orange opened as the Cardinals’ three-point underdog, and the line went moved to 3.5 in favor of Louisville on DraftKings (odds / lines subject to change. Terms and conditions apply. See bets for more details).

The good thing for punters is that Syracuse continues to be one of the best teams against the spread this season, even with tight lines like this. Syracuse is 8-1 ATS this season. Compare that to Louisville, who is 4-5 ATS this year.

The plus / minus for Saturday’s game is also currently at 55.5, which is fair considering both teams aren’t too bad at scoring points. Syracuse is averaging 29.4 points per game this season and Louisville is not far behind with 28.8 points per game. Notably, the Orange has scored at least 30 points in every ACC game this season, with the exception of Clemson and BC games.

Louisville won last year’s contest 30-0. It should be noted that this score ended a single streak for the winner of the Syracuse-Louisville soccer games. Each winner between the Orange and the Cardinals had scored more than 40 points in the victory from 2015 to 2020. Given the appearance of the two offenses this season, it is not excluded that the same result will occur on Saturday.
