Another piece of the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball lineup puzzle came together on Monday. According to a Jon Rothstein report, it looks like Syracuse will host the Indiana Hoosiers as part of the ACC / Big Ten Challenge this season. (Update: this has been confirmed, as have the other matchups in this year’s ACC / B1G Challenge)
While we’re not talking about this time these two programs faced off, the Oranges have actually won all five games since, including a 69-52 victory at the Carrier Dome in the 2013 ACC / Big Ten Challenge. . The main image for this piece is also from 2013. But instead, these are the first moments of the upset 61-50 SU distributed to No.1 in Indiana during this year’s NCAA tournament (en route towards the Final Four).
Neither Syracuse nor Indiana fared incredibly well in this event. Indiana is just 8-12 in 20 attempts, while Orange is just 3-5. ‘Cuse also lost the last two tries during the challenge, falling to Rutgers on the road in 2020 and Iowa at home in 2019.
So for those keeping track at home, we’re VERY close to having a full non-conference program for the Orange at this point. Between that announcement and Drexel’s addition to the roster last week, we know almost all of the opponents for 2021-2022 – and might even know all of them if Cornell and Colgate are added, as one would expect.
