Graphic novels. Collective editions. Omnibus. Trades. These are really just words for “awesome way to read comics”. (Note that in some cases the release dates at comic book stores, online retailers, and bookstores are different)

The editor says: Thirty years ago, the world watched in horror THE PATRON, a hero sent as a humanitarian aid worker from another dimension, fight blow for blow with WOE, a primordial beast and a perfect match for our mighty protector. In the end, the hero and the villain have fallen… but the Boss has returned – and continues to defend us to this day!

At least that’s what we’ve all been told.

The truth is, the Boss died that day with Woe. The UN replaced the Boss with a Reploid, designed to mimic the real Boss and continue his mission of protection.

Today, the Boss Reploid is secretly piloted by an elite team – a team prepared for anything… except the death of one of their own.

A deep dive into the underside of the superhero myth as only writer Steve Orlando (KILL A MAN, Midnighter, Martian Manhunter) can tell. Illustrated by Patrick Piazzalunga (Siege, X-Factor), this volume contains numbers # 1-5

What I am saying: Steve Orlando. Mystery. A new concept of superheroes. Steve Orlando. Steve Orlando.

The editor says: The best-selling Batman epic from the team behind Dark Nights: Metal continues here! This second and final omnibus collection includes Batman # 34-52; Batman Annual # 3-4, Batman: Futures End # 1, DC Sneak Peek: Batman # 1, Batman: Last Knight on Earth # 1-3 and stories from Detective Comics # 27 and # 1000.

What I am saying: There’s a reason this collaboration is getting omnibus treatment. That’s because the job defined character and was entertaining as hell. This tome is 928 pages long and this is how people should read Batman.

The editor says: Krakoa is for carrier closers!

The agreements have been made. Mutantkind is safe on his new island nation. But who protects the interests of mutants who have everything? X-Corporation leads the charge, led by CXOs Monet St. Croix and Warren Worthington, a duo as ruthless and ruthless in the boardroom as they are on the battlefield. But X-Corp needs more than its figureheads.

And as Monet prepares to equip his team with some of the brightest mutant minds available, including Dr. Jamie Madrox, who offers maximum synergy with minimum bandwidth, new investors are calling, including Selene and Mastermind! But as the trade deals begin to bear unexpected fruit, Warren finds himself in a tense meeting with one of Krakoa’s earliest allies, who wants to know the truth: on Angel’s wings, X-Corp will- will it crash or fly away?

X-Corp (2021) # 1-5

What I am saying: Tini Howard’s work has been one of the strongest in the current era of X-Men and X-Corp is no exception. Bringing the boardroom world to Krakoa is a trump card in my books, and Howard doing it with Foche and De Landro is just the icing on the cake.

The editor says: LORD VADER… RISE!

In the wake of Revenge of the Sith, follow Vader as he ascends to power as the Dark Lord of the Sith! Having lost everything he held dear and now more of a machine than a man, Vader takes his first steps into a darker world – starting with eradicating the last Jedi from the galaxy! But librarian Jocasta Nu is making a desperate effort to preserve the Jedi legacy, and the whirlpools of a rebellion have started in the Mon Cala system! To ensure the Emperor’s hold on the galaxy is absolute, Vader must cope quickly and brutally with any uprising – but he has his own goal. And as darkness looms over Mustafar, the scene of Vader’s greatest defeat, will the man once called Anakin Skywalker realize his true destiny?

Collection of DARTH VADER (2017) # 1-25 and ANNUAL # 2.

What I am saying: Charles Soule has a knack for plumbing Star wars universe for the jewels of stories, and its race on dark Vador is a shining example. One of the architects of The High Republic, Soule takes readers to the post-Revenge of the Sith era and gives us a Vader that the galaxy did not see coming.

The editor says: One of the most popular and critically acclaimed graphic novels of all time, Neil Gaiman’s award-winning masterpiece The Sandman set the standard for mature lyrical fantasy in the era of modern comics. Illustrated by an exemplary selection of the medium’s most gifted artists, the series is a rich blend of modern and ancient mythology in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are perfectly interwoven.

The Sandman: The Deluxe Edition Book Four brings together issues 51-69 of The Sandman’s original series, which includes the zero hour tale “World’s End” – at the World’s End Tavern, two travelers tell stories like “A Tale of Two Cities “. This volume also features Vertigo Jam # 1, where the beauty and wonders of Dream’s Castle can be experienced.

What I am saying: Now, this might not be the place to start reading this series, but if you know a fan who wants to read it in the most beautiful way available today, this 528 page piece is the way to go. to do ! As for those deluxe editions / omnibuses, $ 50 is pretty darn good value!

… And with that, I’m calling this week over. Happy reading, comic book fans!
