Kim Kardashian reflects on her personal life and career as she celebrates a career milestone.
The reality TV star and SKIMS mogul, 41, appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated swimsuit this month’s issue, which marks his first appearance in the magazine. In a video promoting the new number, Kardashian opened up about the things that bring her joy, including parenting her four children with ex-husband Kanye West.
“I would say the most gratifying part is that unless you’re a parent, you really don’t understand how difficult it is,” she explained. “There are nights where you’re just like, ‘I don’t want to do this, I don’t want to be an adult anymore, it’s really hard.’ All the children are crying and no one is going to bed.”
She also said the “most stressful time” with her kids is when she’s doing a photo shoot with all four kids.
“Every time after trying a Christmas card, I’m like, I’ll never do that again,” she said. “I’m going to do a picture with each kid individually and I have to photoshop it together. I say it every year and then every year I try it. I’m like, ‘No, they’re a year older, we have I understood, we’re not going to fight, we’re going to get through this, nobody’s going to cry today. And then it’s a nightmare, and I’m like, ‘I’m never going to do that again.'”
As for her own photo shoot, Kardashian told the magazine that the Sports Illustrated cover was a surprising step for her.
“Every time I saw magazines, especially in the 90s when I was growing up, it was always these perfect, tall, thin women, and I was never that,” she explained. “I vividly remember Tyra Banks on the cover and women with curves, and I just remember thinking that was so cool, that was so cool. But I still didn’t think I would. I thought you must be a professional model and a catwalk model. And they’re still very young girls. I don’t want to date myself, or look old, but in my 40s? Is that crazy? .
While the Kardashian cover sparked some controversy, MJ Day, the magazine’s editor, explained in an interview with Yahoo Life that there were many reasons why. The Kardashians star was the right choice for Sports Illustrated swimsuit.
“She failed many times. She could have quit, but she didn’t. And it was very public, her failure,” Day said. “When you’re this famous, there’s going to be a lot of people saying a lot of things about you, but his persistence and his unwillingness to limit himself in all these other ways that don’t necessarily get as much attention as whatever. she’s wearing to the Met Gala, unfortunately. She’s still doing it, even in light of any kind of negativity. I’m really for that, like, I really applaud that.”
