How to defeat Zamza in Metal Max Xeno Reborn

0

The first WANTED monsters you will encounter in Metal Max Xeno Reborn, although worrisome, are preventable. Therefore, you can progress to other Distokyo areas without fighting them. However, Zamza, a terrorizing arachnid-like cyber-monster, blocks all paths beyond Spider Gully. Therefore, you must defeat them to progress through the campaign.

Fighting Zamza is a difficult task. After all, this monster will corner you in the skyscrapers of the ravine, leaving little room for escape. Also, with massive attack power, Zamza can wipe out your tank in seconds. However, despite these drawbacks, it is possible to fight this monster alone and win.

What should you know about Zamza?

Zamza basically looks like a giant robotic spider. However, compared to the six-legged Cannon Hoppers you’ll encounter on your way down the ravine, Zamza is significantly larger. Plus, Zamza has a sleek metallic finish, eight tapered legs, and a speckled purple back. If you manage to take down this monster, you will earn a lot of money. His bounty is 33,000 G.

The information data sought indicates the following:

HO71: Hell? ! He came down from that building!

HFNG: Shit! To run! Make a break for it!

HO58: We have to go to the heights, the underpass of Kiyosu is too isolated…”

However, after defeating Zamza, we also got this information from the monster library:

  • The description: A SoN class monster, among the worst of the worst. Instead of killing its prey, it uses them as decoys to attract more victims.
  • EXP: 750
  • Gold (excluding premium): 511G
  • Weaknesses:
    • 50% weakness to electric attacks
    • 25% weakness to cold attacks
  • Objects deposited:
    • Zamza Core
    • Sonic Sword
    • Kill Core

Where will you find Zamza?

There is a group of deteriorating skyscrapers behind the Laser Walker field outside the Big Atrium Exterior. You can approach these skyscrapers either by fighting in the field of Laser Walkers or by crossing the nearby bridge on the other side. If you’ve ever found Toni in the DEAD OR ALIVE sub-quest, you’ve already gone this route. There’s even a chance you’ve seen Zamza perched on a skyscraper from your highest vantage point.

If you drive to the center of the cluster of skyscrapers, Zamza will fall from the skyscraper and start attacking. Therefore, if you plan to fight Zamza at ground level, you need to come up with a plan of action after the Zamza leap.

What weapons should you equip?

High attack power weapons are always a fantastic option for fighting WANTED monsters, and Zamza is no different. Therefore, you need to equip cannons for your first two slots and install the Double hit trait chip. However, using a few machine guns is also beneficial, especially if you equip the machine gun rush chip, allowing you to fire all of your machine gun weapons simultaneously.

Additionally, investing in cold and electric elemental weapons is a necessity. frost blast and thunder blade are both good enough guns for this fight. In addition, Thunderbolt and Frostthrower are useful machine guns. Lately, thunderbird is also a useful SE to equip.

Yet these weapons are not cheap. For example, Thunderbolt and Frostthrower each cost 18,000 G each. Additionally, Thunderbird costs 44,000 G. Additionally, weapons like Freeze Blast and Thunder Blade cannot be purchased from the Exit Store. Not to mention, you can’t craft Thunder Blade without killing Zamza in the first place. So all these weapons will cost you your time or money.

We recommend that you search as many crates, scraps, and metal detectors as possible before depositing gold for weapons. You may come across any of the weapons mentioned above on your travels.

Another option is crafting weapons. Thunderbolt and Frostthrower are relatively simple weapons to craft. Here are the materials you will need for each.

Frostthrower

  • 1050g
  • 1 cannon of 13 mm
  • 1 refrigeration system
  • 1.30 t High-tech scrap

Thunderbolt

  • 1050g
  • 1 cannon of 13 mm
  • 1 lightning electrode
  • 1.30 t High-tech scrap

If you can’t equip any of the elemental weapons listed above, focus on strengthening your equipped weapons and engines as much as possible. Anything you can do to increase attack power and SP is key to succeeding in this battle.

How to defeat Zamza

Defeating Zamza is a confusing task. Although the game offers suggestions for approaching this battle, they are vague and misleading. However, after some trial and error, here are some lessons we learned to defeat Zamza.

Should you create your party first?

When we defeated Zamza, we completed the task alone. However, if you’re willing to put in the extra time, completing two sub-quests, the last drunk and DEAD OR ALIVE, will add Toni and Yokky to your battle formation. These additions will greatly increase your chances of surviving against Zamza.

So, do we recommend stacking your party first? Yes. Is it necessary? No.

Can you attack from above?

The Hunter’s Log from the Wanted Monster Data entry implies that attacking from higher ground is the most successful plan. Considering you can see Zamza from the skyscraper where you found Toni, this idea makes sense. But unfortunately, one major factor demystifies this approach: you can’t get your tank into the skyscraper. The paths leading to this destination are too narrow, so you have to get off your vehicle.

How can you use the environment to beat Zamza?

So you cannot attack Zamza from above. Additionally, facing Zamza head-on will make you a sitting duck. So how can you win this battle? If you’ve ever beaten Gun Taurus, the answer is more obvious than you might think. This battle boils down to attacking from a location that provides cover for your tank.

First, you need to lure Zamza. Therefore, you will have to risk entering the center of the deteriorated skyscrapers that house the beast. Once Zamza falls to the ground, back out of the enclosure as quickly as possible. While you can take a few hits from Zamza, the monster should follow you enough that you have a clear shot from outside the skyscraper compound.

At this point, you can attack Zamza the same way you attacked Gun Taurus. First, get close enough to the enclosure to hit Zamza without entering. After the attack, Zamza will target your vehicle. Then back off far enough to reduce the engagement. Zamza will lose track of you, giving you another opportunity to attack without taking damage. Continuing this attack and retreat pattern will eventually lead to victory!

What weapons can you craft using Zamza Coins?

There are three boon drops you will receive after defeating Zamza. First, like other WANTED monsters, Zamza drops a Murder Heart, an essential material for various weapon upgrades. The second is the Sonic Sword, a powerful sonic cannon. Finally, you will receive the Zamza Coreone material required for two weapons, listed below.
