A POPULAR fireworks show launched into the sky over Colchester last night, drawing thousands of spectators and families.
The castle park fireworks have returned to the city center after the cancellation of the 50th anniversary event last year.
The sold-out show was hosted by the King Coel’s Kittens fundraising group, which was formed in 1962 to initially raise funds to support people with special needs.
After an hour of entertainment, including a mind-blowing performance by magician Michael J Fitch, The Guy Parade walked through the park.
Guests of all ages then watched a crackling bonfire before marveling skyward at the colorful rockets exploding in the dark.
In a statement posted on social media, the event’s organizers said: “Thank you to everyone who came to the fireworks display – I hope you enjoyed the evening.
“All proceeds from the exhibition go to good local causes.
“Thanks to Michael J Fitch The Magician and all the ‘kittens’ and helpers.
“See you next year. Remember to book your tickets in advance as we all sell.
