The summer transfer window was unlike any other; check out all the major offers and find out how we ranked the biggest signings. And just because the window is closed until January doesn’t mean the rumors won’t continue. Here are the latest gossip and speculation.
TOP STORY: Chelsea are interested in Hazard’s return
Chelsea are interested in a double blow for the Real Madrid duo Ferland mendy and Edenic danger, according to El Nacional.
The Blues reportedly made a € 40million offer for left-back Mendy this summer, which was later turned down by the LaLiga club. Chelsea are believed to be set to return for the France international with an increased bid, while Los Blancos will not listen to anything below the 60 million euro mark.
The 26-year-old joined Real Madrid from Lyon in 2019 for € 48million and has made 71 appearances at the club since joining. However, president Florentino Perez is said to be willing to let the full-back go and find a suitable replacement for the right offer.
As for Hazard, a return to Stamford Bridge could be considered. The winger left the Blues in 2019 for more than 100 million euros. Since then he has struggled to impose his authority at the Bernabeu, often hampered by injury issues.
According to the report, the hierarchy has lost patience with the Belgium international due to Vinicius Junior’s form, as well as a reported plan to sign Kylian Mbappé at the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
While Chelsea would not close the door on a return for Hazard, there are apparent doubts about the wide player but they believe he has a future and could be tempted by the right contract structure.
