MANISTIQUE – Allan Joseph Braun, 66, of Manistique, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at his sister’s home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Allan was born on February 9, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. As a child, Allan and his family moved to Manistique and they couldn’t have moved to a better place for him. Allan was a Yooper in every sense of the word and enjoyed every season. Planting a garden and flowers in the spring, harvesting firewood and enjoying a game of softball in the summer, bird hunting while looking for signs of deer in the early fall, Allan excelled and enjoyed it all. . An avid deer hunter, Allan spent many hours at camp and in the woods making sure everything was perfect for opening day.

It paid off for him, as his walls were decorated with trophies, all with a story he could recite at a glance.

Allan was proud to serve in the United States Marine Corps and relished the opportunities it gave him to see the world. After returning home, Allan worked in a variety of jobs including construction, surveying and the family business, Jax Bar and Restaurant.

In his later years, Allan enjoyed helping his family, neighbors and friends. Allan was a referee for CUP youth baseball at Fifth Street Field for many years and helped foster a love of baseball in many children.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, chasing them around the yard and teaching them the right time and technique for picking strawberries and tomatoes. He had a healthy love for the thrill of a slot machine grip and could often be found “seven miles to the east”.

Allan wanted to make sure that special thanks go to the staff at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and Green Bay Oncology, as well as countless friends, neighbors and family whose care and love have not only extended his life, but gave him a quality he could not. have imagined. Through this exceptional care, Allan was able to watch his grandchildren step into the world and connect with his daughter. It meant the world to him.

Allan is survived by his son, William (Amanda) Braun; grandchildren, Cecilia Louise and Mabel Mae; daughter, Tiffany (Waide); siblings, Penny Schmidt, Polly (Harry) Toennessen, Peggy (Mike) Wilson, Pat “Tiger” (Lisa) Braun and Pam Anderson; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins ​​and friends. Before Allan in death are his parents, Jack and Helene Braun; sister, Jacki Johnson; and aunts, Gert, Joanie and Maryann.
