All the Marvel announcements and trailers from D23 Expo 2022

Marvel Studios’ Expo D23 panel provided exciting new trailers and first glimpses of upcoming movies and series in the mcu. With just over an hour to reveal all sorts of new details, Marvel Studios’ presence at Disney’s big expo comes after their major showcase at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. As such, the D23 Expo gave Marvel the chance to go deeper, giving fans a better idea of ​​what to expect in the years to come.


At SDCC, Marvel Studios provided a fairly broad roadmap for the multiverse saga, with the new overarching narrative being told through Phases 4, 5, and 6. This included two new Avengers films that will be released in 2025. However, the new panel Marvel at D23 Expo opted to keep things more focused on 2023 and 2024, revealing new creations, new talent, and some exciting trailers for upcoming Disney+ projects.

As Marvel made very clear at the new D23 Expo panel, there will be no shortage of MCU content in the years to come. Shows and movies such as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Captain America: The New World Order, Marvel’s Thunderbolts, Loki season 2Daredevil: Born Again, Secret Invasion, Night Werewolf, and many more were showcased at the event, with each project receiving at least one new update and/or exclusive footage. Although the D23 Expo panel also spotlighted Star Wars and 20th Century Studios titles, the anticipation surrounding Marvel was high. That said, here are all the announcements and trailers revealed during Marvel Studios’ D23 panel for 2022.


Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

start things off with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, exclusive footage has been revealed for the upcoming film in November, confirming that the Wakanda nation will protect its precious vibranium from the rest of the world despite its weakened position. Similarly, the new footage also featured Tenoch Huerta’s Namor battling Winston Duke’s M’Baku.

Stone heart

With a new logo for Marvel’s next series Stone heart starring Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams, it was revealed that Black Panther director Ryan Coogler will serve as executive producer with the series spun off from Ironheart’s upcoming role in wakanda forever. Exclusive images have also been revealed for the series focusing on his studies at MIT, along with confirmation that Anthony Ramos will be playing the magical villain known as The Hood.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania also premiered exclusive footage for the 2023 film featuring a new adventure in the Quantum Realm. Not only did the clip introduce Bill Murray’s character, who believed Janet van Dyne had died, but it also reveals that Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror will be looking to recruit Scott Lang for a heist in the Quantum Realm itself. It was also confirmed that the next The ant Man the film will be directly linked to Avengers: Kang Dynasty coming in 2025.

night werewolf

With a brand new trailer released, Marvel fans got their first look night werewolf, the first Marvel Studios special coming to Disney+ on October 7. The series will star Gael García Bernal as Jack Russel’s nocturnal werewolf and Laura Donnelly as monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone. Directed by Michael Giacchino, night werewolf will be a truly unique MCU project as a retro black-and-white horror story (and will also feature the official MCU debut of The Man-Thing).

Secret Invasion

Marvel Studios also released the first trailer for Secret Invasion, a new series starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, plus Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman in all-new MCU roles. With Fury returning to Earth, the former Director of SHIELD will be caught up in a massive alien conspiracy involving shapeshifting aliens known as Skrulls. Secret Invasion will start streaming in early 2023.

Armor Wars

Along with a new logo, it’s been confirmed by War Machine actor Don Cheadle that Armor Wars still happens in the MCU (having been conspicuously absent at the SDCC). Cheadle also revealed that Armor Wars will take place immediately after the events of Secret Invasion. Armor Wars is expected to begin filming in 2023.

Loki Season 2

D23 also presented the cast of Loki season 2 with MCU newcomer Ke Huy Quan (Everything everywhere all at once), who will play a VAT agent. It has also been confirmed that Kang the Conqueror will feature heavily in the series following the Season 1 finale episode, where Kang’s takeover of TVA was revealed. With exclusive images for Loki season 2 featuring the god of mischief sent across multiple branch realities, the series may turn out to have more multiversal madness than Doctor Strange 2. loki season 2 is slated for release in the summer of 2023.

The Fantastic Four

Unfortunately, not much has been revealed for 2025 The Fantastic Four. While many hoped the cast would be revealed, the only thing Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had to share was confirmation that by WandaVision Matt Shakman will direct the film. Hopefully, the cast of Marvel’s First Family will be revealed soon.

Echo

Exclusive images for Marvel Echo was also revealed as D23, confirming the return of Vincent D’onofrio’s Kingpin. As Maya Lopez shot him in the head at the end of Hawk Eye, it looks like Wilson Fisk is alive and well (although he’s wearing an eye patch to cover the loss of his eye). Having recently completed filming, Echo should be released in the summer of 2023.

Daredevil: Born Again

A new logo for Daredevil: Born Again was revealed with D’onofrio and Daredevil actor Charlie Cox taking the stage at D23. Both shared their excitement for the upcoming series, which will have 18 episodes. Having made his official MCU debut in Spider-Man: No Coming HomeCox’s Matt Murdock is set to star in an upcoming episode of She-Hulk: lawyer, where Daredevil and She-Hulk will team up to battle a group of thugs (confirmed via exclusive footage for She-Hulk episode 5).

Captain America: New World Order

With a new logo for Captain America: New World Order starring Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, it was revealed that Tim Blake Nelson would return to the MCU as the lead, after being teased 14 years ago in 2008. The Incredible Hulk. Carl Lumbly will also return as Isiah Bradley, the first black super-soldier introduced in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, starring Danny Ramierez’s Joaquín Torres, who will become the MCU’s new Falcon. Israeli mutant super-spy Sabra will be featured in the new Captain America movie too.

Marvel’s Lightning Bolts

Marvel Studios has also confirmed the cast and all 7 members for Marvel’s Lightning Bolts coming in 2024. Starring Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova and Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier/White Wolf, they will be joined by former villains such as Red Guardian, US Agent, Taskmaster and Ghost, all of whom will likely be recruited by Louis-Dreyfus’ Julia Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Love at first sight will begin filming next year in 2023.

Wonders

Finally, exclusive images were released to Expo D23 for Wondersthe Captain Marvel sequel that will feature Carol Danvers’ Captain Marvel joining forces with Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau’s Spectrum. For some reason, the new footage confirms that the 3 heroes of the mcu will start switching places each time they use their powers (as seen in Ms. Marvel post-credits scene). Nick Fury is also featured in the new images. Directed by Nia DaCosta, Wonders hits theaters in July 2023.
