The Bureau of Land Management is hosting a Wild Horse and Burro Event in Texarkana at the Four State Fairgrounds on Friday July 16 and Saturday July 17.

Normally this event takes place in Idabel every year, but Texarkana should be delighted to have the opportunity to host this event. There will be approximately 65 wild horses and burros available for adoption. Adoptions will begin from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Appointments are encouraged and open houses will be accepted. Please call 414-339-4450 to make an appointment now.

One of the efforts of the Bureau of Land Management is to find every horse and burro a big house, the BLM offers $ 1,000 adopt an untrained wild horse or burro with their adoption incentive program. There is an adoption sale fee of $ 25 for untrained animals.

Please be prepared to follow the guidelines recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The animals on offer at the event are adult and one-year-old horses and burros that once roamed freely on public lands in the West. The BLM periodically removes excess animals from the range in order to maintain healthy herds and protect other range resources.
